About Kate
Kate Forsyth has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. She wrote her first novel at the age of seven and has been writing constantly ever since.
Her first book Dragonclaw was published when she was only thirty, and was an international success straightaway. It was named a Best First Novel of 1998 by Locus Magazine.
Since then, Kate has written more than twenty four books for children and adults, including The Puzzle Ring, The Gypsy Crown, and The Tower of Ravens.
Her books have been sold to 13 different countries including Russian, Japan, Turkey and Slovenia, and she has been shortlisted for numerous awards, including a CYBIL Award in the US.
In 2007, she was awarded five Aurealis awards for the Chain of Charms series, with Book 5: The Lightning Bolt also being named a CBCA Notable Book.
Her latest book is The Starkin Crown, a magical adventure set in a faraway land of valiant heroes and wicked villains. It tells the story of Prince Peregrine and his desperate quest to find the lost spear of the Storm King.
Kate has also published a contemporary novel Full Fathom Five and a collection of poetry 'Radiance' under her maiden name Kate Humphrey.
Kate is currently studying her doctorate at the University of Technology. She has a BA in Literature and a MA in Writing, and has taught creative writing from primary to tertiary levels for over ten years, including 'Writing for Children' at Sydney University.
Kate lives by the sea in Sydney, Australia, with her husband and three children in a big house filled with thousands of books.
